Standards & Sizes Reference

Standards & Sizes is a free static reference for everyday physical and code standards: paper (A4 = 210 × 297 mm), batteries (AA, CR2032, 18650), screws (M3), cables, image sizes, and ISO 3166 / 639 / 4217 codes.

What is Standards & Sizes?

Standards & Sizes is a browser-based reference covering nine categories: paper sizes, batteries, screws, driver bits, cables, image dimensions, plus ISO 3166-1 country codes, ISO 639 language codes, and ISO 4217 currency codes. All data is static tables — no calculation or sign-in required.

How does it work?

Each section loads a static JSON/YAML table you browse or search. Paper, screw, and image data show direct dimensions; battery and cable entries expand for full specs; the country, language, and currency tables are searchable lists of ISO codes. Available in English, Japanese, Spanish, Chinese, and German.

When should I use it?

Use it when you need a quick, exact value: the mm size of A4 or B5, an AA cell's voltage, M4 thread pitch, an HDMI version's capability, the ISO alpha-2 code for a country (JP), a language code (ja), or a currency code (JPY = 392). It answers "what is the standard size/code for X" without a calculator.

Frequently asked questions

What is A4 paper size in mm and inches?

A4 is 210 × 297 mm (8.27 × 11.69 inches), defined by ISO 216 as the global default for business documents. Halving its long edge gives A5 (148 × 210 mm) because ISO 216 uses a 1:√2 ratio.

What size and voltage is an AA battery?

An AA cell is 14.5 mm diameter × 50.5 mm tall, 1.5 V (alkaline) or 1.2 V (NiMH), with capacity around 2700 mAh. Sizes follow IEC 60086. CR2032 is a separate 20 × 3.2 mm, 3 V lithium coin cell.

What is M3 screw size?

M3 is a metric machine screw with a 3 mm major (outer) diameter and 0.5 mm coarse pitch per ISO 261, using a 2.5 mm tap drill. Metric screws use pitch in mm; imperial UNC/UNF screws use threads per inch (TPI).

What ISO codes does this reference include?

It includes ISO 3166-1 (249 country entries with alpha-2, alpha-3, and numeric codes), ISO 639-1/639-2 (84 language entries), and ISO 4217 (155 currency entries with numeric and minor-unit data). Example: Japan = JP / JPN / 392.

How many languages is Standards & Sizes available in?

Five: English, Japanese, Spanish, Chinese, and German. The interface and use-case descriptions are translated; ISO code data is shared across all languages.
