What is MakerCalc?

MakerCalc bundles 10 everyday maker calculators and reference tables: FDM print-job cost (filament plus electricity), SLA/DLP resin cost, filament length-to-weight conversion, recommended layer height and line width for a nozzle, model scaling and fit-to-bed, stepper steps-per-mm for belt or leadscrew axes, extruder e-steps and flow calibration, plus material density, nozzle/bed temperature, and infill guidance reference tables. Everything is computed locally with no server, no account, and no upload.

How does it work?

Each calculator runs as client-side JavaScript using simple, well-known maker formulas — for example print cost = grams * price/kg + power * hours * rate, filament weight = cross-section * length * density, and steps/mm = motor steps * microstepping / (belt pitch * pulley teeth). You enter common units (g, mm, W, mL, %), and nothing is ever sent to a server.

When should I use it?

Use MakerCalc before and after a print: to estimate what a print will cost, convert a model's grams to filament metres, pick a layer height for your nozzle, scale a model to fit the bed, or calibrate steps-per-mm and e-steps on a new printer, without leaving your browser. Estimates only; verify against your slicer and filament datasheet.

Frequently asked questions

Is the print cost exact?

It is a close estimate. MakerCalc uses your filament weight (from your slicer), spool price, print time, printer power and electricity rate. Slicer-reported grams and your actual power draw are the main sources of variation.

Which calculators are included?

Ten: FDM print cost, resin cost, filament length and weight, layer height and line width, model scaling, steps-per-mm, e-steps/flow calibration, plus material-density, temperature and infill reference tables.

What filament densities does it use?

Common values — PLA 1.24, PETG 1.27, ABS 1.04, ASA 1.07, TPU 1.21, Nylon 1.14, PC 1.20 g/cm³ — and you can enter your own.

Is my data uploaded?

No. Every calculation runs entirely in your browser. Your inputs never leave your device.

Do I need an account?

No. MakerCalc is free, needs no sign-up or install, works offline once loaded, and is available in English, Japanese, Spanish, Chinese and German.
